[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]After three years of anticipation, remixes and singles, Imagine Dragons has released their second studio album, “Smoke + Mirrors.”
The band gave their fans a first taste of the new album with the song “I Bet My Life” back in October. The second course was “Gold” released in mid-December and the dessert was “Shots” released at end of January.
“Smoke + Mirrors” is more rock-based than their first album “Night Visions” which is more hip-hop based. Imagine Dragons was writing and creating songs to make this album while on their year-long “Night Visions” Tour around the world. The album cover and the music video for “Shots” are inspired by the paintings of Tim Cantor, a self-taught American surrealist artist and writer.
The varying music style changes from song to song, from rock to a softer melody with a beat. The band wanted to do something different with their music and give more material to their fans, and they succeeded.
“Shots” kicks off the album with its upbeat style and themes of regret and moving on. “Gold” has more of a rock atmosphere and its catchy lyrics makes you want to dance. The background vocals in “I Bet My Life” bring a whole new level to rock, and in “I’m So Sorry,” the rock aura brings listeners back to the “Radioactive” tune. The haunting but true lyrics in “Polaroid” make you think that no matter who you are, love can never die.
