Shivani’s writing technique has really shone through in this informative article. Her “do this, not that” theme really brings out that Reader’s Digest feel, and the genuine research done to use specific prices and store locations shows her credibility as well. In addition to her rhetorical skills, there lies subtext of the incredible strain of prom preparation, and perhaps this article will even steer people away from going to prom. Look at all these little things that girls do simply to meet the standards of society! Lastly, the use of alliteration when Bhatnagar says,” the correlation between money spent and memories made doesn’t have to hold true,” really speaks to theme of how money isn’t needed for fun. The article will surely convince people that they can go to prom without worrying about a hole in their wallets.
