[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]In Angelina Jolie’s new film “Unbroken,” based on a true story about the amazing Louis “Louie” Zamperini, has shed some light on World War II Prisoner of War veterans, the hardships they faced and the strength they had to have just to make it through the day.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”6771″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The movie starts of with Zamperini having a flashback of when his life started on a path set out for no-good, and seeming as if he was always getting into trouble whether it was stealing, running from the police, drinking or smoking. All which started at a young age when he and his family moved to the states from Italy.

 

His older brother, Pete Zamperini, who was on the track team for the local high school, convinced him to try out and he made the team.  From there Zamperini’s life took off from being a troublemaker to an olympic athlete in Nazi Germany.

The survivors were badly malnourished and barely alive before the Japanese found them adrift in the ocean. Zamperini and several others spent a few years in prison camps before the war ended.

 

“Unbroken,” a  beautifully directed film, with everything being of the correct time period from the planes, cars, clothes, and even the “TIME” magazines. The actors all play their roles as if they were actually living amongst what was going on. You can almost see the hate in the war prisoner’s eyes when they are amongst their Japanese captors.

Which was a good aspect except when the men are lost at sea, a group of scenes that seem to drag on for hours. You almost feel the same boredom that they do and start wishing for a boat to come to rescue them yourself just because the scenes drag on for what seems forever.

It is a well produced movie that should possibly be shortened, but I think it is a suitable movie that everyone should see. However, the movie isn’t quite suitable for young children due to some mildly graphic torture scenes.
