[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Glasses perched on her nose, a table lamp illuminating the space, pink pen poised in her hand, AP English IV teacher Jill Hall prepares to tackle a stack of ungraded essays. She reaches for the first essay when, all of the sudden, the shrill ring of an iPhone alarm goes off. She frantically looks up and is met with about a dozen pairs of eyes awaiting her instruction: “Oh, has it already been 45 minutes? Stop writing!”[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”Small Line”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Hall’s students will tell you that she’s notorious for forgetting to take attendance, using a timer for everything and is OCD about the state of her desktop.

Iconic Phrases:

  1. If I don’t know what you’re talking about, then you get an “I-don’t-know-what-you’re-talking-about” grade.
  2. I’ve got to do my job with my glasses on.
  3. I make up a lot of stupid work, for myself.
  4. She said, hopefully.
  5. (While explaining something) I think, well, no, I don’t think anymore.

  1. Read, actually read, the novel or play the class is currently studying; reading quizzes can be super specific.
  2. You may complain about all the “unnecessary busy work” now, but it’s honestly worth it in the end.
  3. Always remember the human condition when considering essay prompts.
  4. Don’t put off major projects till the last minute. Just don’t.
  5. While writing the research paper, go to her for help. Seriously, it helps.
  6. For outside reading projects, pick a book you’d actually like to read. And if there isn’t one, something close to that.
