He is haunted by his dead daughter as he travels a post-apocalyptic desert, and he is quickly thwarted by a gang of scavengers. Rockatansky is taken to a civilization that revolves around the dictator Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne), who controls his citizens with the distribution of water. Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) makes her escape from this unjust civilization by helping Immortan Joe’s captive wives escape his evil grasp. After a thrilling car chase, Max reluctantly joins forces with Furiosa and the women.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]I attempted to watch the original Mad Max, a low-budget Australian film featuring a young Mel Gibson, but I could hardly make it past the first 15 minutes. I was not expecting much out of this  newer take on the series, but it blew me away. The plot was surprisingly well-executed and thought out. Director George Miller could have easily made this as cheesy as its predecessor, but he achieved a well-balanced medium between gruesomeness and intrigue.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The roles were played perfectly. Hardy’s movements were erratic, further revealing Max’s characteristics. Theron gave a stunning performance and proved herself to be the true protagonist. She drew in the audience with her stark blue eyes and confident gait.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]This movie was a pleasure to watch. Not only because of the entertaining script and excellent acting, but the breathtaking scenery. Even though the setting is a giant desert, it still managed to entrance me with the use of vibrant colors. During the day, striking oranges and reds set an urgent and powerful tone; at night, intense blues projected an ominous calm. The only effects I didn’t enjoy was the portrayal of little girl haunting Max. It did not look like a real girl at all. Overall the movie left me wanting to see more and was wonderfully executed.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][image_with_animation image_url=”2281″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][tabbed_section][tab title=”Pros”][vc_column_text]
