You donut want to miss this place

New donut shop offers impressive variety, late-night options.

I’ve been working at my dad’s pizza shop for almost a year, often coming home as late as 1:00 a.m. Like a lot of other busy high school students, I’m sure I’m not the only one who has late night donut cravings. Let me tell you, I just found the best, sweet-tooth pleasing and comfortable place in the Carrollton area.

Wow! Donut & Drips recently opened and will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which is unique compared to most donut shops in this city. As a person who craves sweet goods quite frequently, this is a special amenity to have.

When I walked into the donut cafe, I immediately fell in love. I was greeted by a cheerful “Welcome to Wow!” which made me even more excited to walk in. The bright walls and cozy seating made me feel like I was home. The moment you walk in, you recieve a cheerful vibe, which I think is an essential part of a food business.

Wow! Donut & Drips features a rotating list of seasonal items. When I looked over their donut display, they had over 119 varieties of donuts, each with different toppings. That, in my opinion, truly deserves a ‘wow.’ The way each donut is decorated shows it took time and effort to make them look nice. You can also find the all-time Texan-favorite kolaches, freshly made and ready to eat when you arrive.

I tried a fan-favorite, the “maple bacon” donut. According to the Wow! employees, this donut is a best-seller, and was impressive. The glaze on the donut wasn’t too sweet, and the bacon was crunchy with the right amount of salt. And when you take a bite of both the donut and the bacon at the same time, the sweetness and the saltiness balance out really well. I also tried another popular donut, the “maple coffee” cake. The donut looked like it would give me diabetes, but when I took a bite, it tasted delectable. The coffee cake wasn’t too sweet and the glaze wasn’t too sugary. The dark chocolate syrup completed the donut in both taste and looks.

And of course, regarding those “drips,” Wow! Coffee is made right when you order. I was talking with one of the employees, and she said they value freshness of coffee. Along the side counter, Wow! offers different types of milks, such as almond milk and sugars or sweetners. I ordered a popular coffee to go with my donut choices, the Antabellum. The coffee was rich in flavor, and I enjoyed having it made in front of me.

Overall, this place is a new favorite study spot of mine. There are outlets everywhere and the WiFi is helpful. The staff of Wow! Donuts and Drips is friendly, and the way it is decorated is calming. I would definitely recommend this place, and I would definitely go back.
