The Silver Wings perform at halftime during the football game against Plano on Aug. 30. They will be hosting a babysitting event on September 14 at the main campus.

The Silver Wings will host a babysitting event for parents’ to have a night out on Sept. 14 from 6 p.m. to  9 p.m at the main campus in the cafeteria and gym.

The event is held to fundraise money for the Silver Wings to go on a trip to New York for five days. The event is held four times a year, once a month to raise the money.

“We sponsor a parent’s night out, which is a babysitting service where parents can drop their kids off with us and they’ll play,” head director Anne Bowling said. “We [give] them pizza and they do face painting, play games, and if they want to do sports, that’s in the gym.”

The wide variety of activities is meant to appeal to kids interested in many things and keep all of them happy.  Sophomore Silver Wing Audrianna Fleming loves to see the kids having fun and adoring the activities.

“In the [Auxiliary] gym, there’s face painting done by Silver Wings and depending on the time of year, a craft,” Fleming said. “The little boys have a chance to play tag and football. It is such a joy to see all the kids come and play with us.”

Fleming said some kids require more attention than others, but overall, being able to handle all the kids together is easy, especially with the number of girls helping out with the event

“This is one of my favorite fundraisers that we do because the other Wings and I have so much fun with the kids,” Fleming said. “Even if running around the gym for three hours is tiring, I know that the kids love it so much.”
