Student Council is holding its 13th annual Kibble Kontest to raise money, paper towels and toys for Operation Kindness, a no kill animal shelter for dogs and cats..

The third period competition started on Feb. 5 and will end Feb. 15. The class that contributes the most donations will win a cookie cake party.

“We’re [asking] people to bring money and paper towels because [they are] the most needed and requested items,” Student Council president Madison Green said. “The paper towels are for easier cleanups at the shelter because the laundry stacks up and this is just a lot easier to clean the dog kennels. Money is really important because they get to buy things at a discounted price since they are a nonprofit organization; so they get to buy the dog food at a reduced cost which is why we don’t ask people to buy dog food.”

Green said student council wants to surpass $1,500 made from last year’s Kibble Kontest.

“We want to make a difference, and Operation Kindness says every year that everything we bring in is really helping them out,” Green said.
