Spooky snacks: Candy corn punch

Round two of my Pinterest lurking led me to a drink recipe, which is something that I’ve never attempted. The Halloween spirit had me feeling courageous, so I decided to try and make the easiest drink I could find without having to compromise on looks or taste. I settled on a recipe with only four ingredients because it seemed pretty foolproof, but knowing me, I can find ways to mess anything up.

The only ingredients I needed were:

  • 1 can of any orange soda (I used Sunkist)
  • 1 bottle of yellow Gatorade
  • 1 bottle of lemonade-flavored Vitamin Water
  • 1 bowl of crushed ice

First, I rummaged through my kitchen cabinets in hopes of finding something that resembled a mason jar so that I would have more room to pour the liquids into. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything suitable, so I had to settle for a tall glass.

Once I had that rinsed out, I filled it to the brim with crushed ice. Next, I carefully added about ⅓ cup of orange soda and waited for it to settle. Then I poured ⅓ cup of yellow Gatorade, which is where I messed up. I guess I didn’t put enough of the Gatorade, so when I poured in ⅓ cup of Vitamin Water, the yellow pretty much dissipated. The end result wasn’t too shabby, but it did leave me wanting more of the yellow color to make the drink resemble candy corn.

Overall, this drink is crazy simple and refreshing, and is a much needed break from typical fall drinks consisting of either cinnamon, pumpkin spice or both.
