Football played against the Plano West Wildcats in the first football game of the year on Aug. 30. Though the Hawks held a 31-point lead in the first quarter, the Panthers were able to add a few scores in the second and third quarter. However, the Hawks held off the Panthers for the rest of the game, winning 53-26.

The Hawks will play their first away game on Sept. 5 against the Arlington Martin Warriors at UT Arlington Maverick stadium in Arlington

  • Ruckus and Rowdy members yell encouraging words to the football players before kickoff. When a player scores a touchdown, they run to Ruckus and Rowdy members to dunk the football into the garbage can.

  • The cheerleaders motivate the crowd to cheer louder and “bring the wood.” They are there to motivate the audience and the football players by yelling, cheering, and performing stunts for the crowd.

  • Coach Tyler Bailey discusses a play with junior Will Miller. Miller is a center, and this is his first year on varsity.

  • Senior Donovan Tubbs yells to friends and family in the crowd, predicting the final score of the game. He yells to his friends, “My bet is 50 - 0. Watch it happen.”

  • Ruckus and Rowdy member Morgan Brookmole yells into the megaphone and gets the crowd to its feet.

  • Junior Weston Conoway takes a breather from his last play. Conoway is a quarterback for the Hawks.

  • Senior Justin Burton gets prepared for his next play in the last quarter. Burton is the corner back and safety for the Hawks.
