The Hawks obtained Coach Brian Brazil’s 100th victory by defeating the Plano Wildcats on the humid and muggy homecoming night.

In the first quarter, the Wildcats rushed down the field quickly but failed a field goal, keeping the score at 0-0 early in the game. However, the Wildcats got the ball back and rushed for a touchdown, ending the first quarter with a Wildcat lead, 0-7.
In the second quarter, a Wildcat fumble was recovered by senior cornerback Cedric Dale, which set up a Hawks touchdown pass from senior quarterback Carson Proffitt to senior wide receiver Jamal Adams, to tie the score 7-7. The Wildcats suffered the first of many injuries in the second quarter when junior quarterback Mitchell Hansen went down and did not return to the game. The Wildcats had more mistakes when a bad snap pushed them back about 20 yards to their own 30-yard line. The resulting drive by the Hawks was capped off by a 26-yard touchdown rush by senior running back Treyvon Hughes to end the quarter 14-7.

After the homecoming festivities ended and the third quarter started, Dale returned a kickoff 87 yards down to the 4-yard line. Hughes finished the 20 second drive with another rushing touchdown, this time for 4 yards. With the Hawks up 21-7, the Wildcats went down another player, losing an offensive lineman. When the Hawks got the ball back, Dale and Proffitt connected for a 35-yard touchdown reception, putting the score at 28-7.

The fourth quarter started with the Hawks’ senior kicker Joel Carlos missing a 54-yard field goal and handing the ball over to the Wildcats. Another Wildcat injury was followed by the Hawks’ junior safety Omar Hicks-Onu intercepting a ball and returning it all the way to the Wildcats’ 19-yard line. The Hawks would then fumble the ball and give it up to the Wildcats, but there was not enough time left and the Hawks would end up victorious, resulting in Coach Brazil’s 100th win as a Hawk.

Final score: 28-7 (W)
