[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The varsity volleyball team secured one of the three spots for district play with a sweeping win over the Plano East Panthers, knocking out three sets (25-18, 25-15, and 25-9).

The Panthers came out with confidence in the first set, making the Hawks work a little harder to protect back corners and put more power behind attacks. Plano East’s defense seemed a little too eager to catch up with the ball, which ultimately led to their defeat by the end.

Senior Brookah Palmer’s powerful strikes set a precedent for the Hebron team’s score, while Junior Tamia Reeves kept up with defensive blocking and simultaneous offense. Senior Erin Shultz also contributed to a strong offense, protecting the frontlines with hard strikes.

The Hawks’ success mainly came from the complete sense of teamwork on and off the court, with encouragement and positivity flowing from the sidelines and communication between players to keep up a mature and experienced front. As the Panthers team consists of a few underclassmen, the lack of knowing when to let the ball go factored into losing some easy scores.

Next game’s expectations are hoping that the Lady Hawks gain a spot in the third seed of district, which has some easier teams to overtake.

“We’re gonna go play ball, and let the cards fall where they may,” coach Karin Keeney said. “Both our teams are good teams, and we know by losing one game it would put us in a better position.”

The Hawks will take on McKinney Boyd next week at home to determine their position in district play.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][carousel easing=”linear” carousel_title=”photos by Raven Scott”][item id=”1414210210-1-23″ title=”Item”][image_with_animation image_url=”6110″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_self”][/item][item id=”1414210210-2-25″ title=”Item”][image_with_animation image_url=”6111″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/item][item id=”1414210210-3-48″ title=”Item”][image_with_animation image_url=”6112″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/item][item title=”Item” id=”1414221346693-0-8″][image_with_animation image_url=”6114″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/item][item title=”Item” id=”1414221353916-0-7″][image_with_animation image_url=”6115″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/item][item title=”Item” id=”1414221354795-0-9″][image_with_animation image_url=”6113″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/item][item title=”Item” id=”1414221356035-0-0″][image_with_animation image_url=”6118″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/item][/carousel][/vc_column][/vc_row]
