The Lady Hawks will play for another state championship on Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. against Katy Seven Lakes, after defeating Conroe the Woodlands in the regional semifinals, 3-0. The game will be held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.

At the semifinals, Hebron won the first set with a score of 21-25. The set was won with multiple spikes from senior outside hitter Adanna Rollins.

“The first set, we sought to get out there and show them that we’re in it,” sophomore setter Nicole Drewnick said. “[We were] trying to fight hard and show what we worked on in practice.”

The second set started with senior libero Annie Benbow serving. A second timeout was called by Woodlands with Hebron leading 23-18. The spike by sophomore right side hitter Nicole Drewnick gave Hebron a 25-20 lead.

“I felt like [the match] was pretty good,” head coach Karin Keeney said. “It was a little slow and sluggish at first, but it picked up steam and we got better. Our blocking looked better towards the end. [Yes, we feel pressure knowing it’s out third try at state], but I’m trying to keep it off my kids. It’s [just] about winning the next match.”

The third set began with a serve led by Woodlands junior Georgia Murphy. There was a 3-3 tie, but the spike by junior outside hitter Emma Clothier got Hebron leading 4-3. A timeout was called by Woodlands with Hebron leading 10-5. Another timeout was called by the Woodlands with the score at 17-6. With a score of 25-14, Hebron won the third set and the game.

“It’s amazing,” Drewnick said. “[During] the second set, we started picking it up more. And the third set we did it [and won]. We’re back at it again and I’m so excited for it.”
