Varsity gathers in a huddle before the kick off. It is tradition for someone to lead the team in prayer before the match, and after the prayer, the girls yell a chant that starts, “Matthew, Mark Luke and John” and blesses the game.

Allo has been on the varsity for two years now and is hoping to get a scholarship next year. “It was a good team win and a great way to end senior night,” Allo said. “It has been a challenging season with injuries and illnesses, but we’re going to come together to win our final games this season.”

The girls basketball team lost 39-55 against Irving Macarthur on Feb. 4. Junior Camille Thomas was the leading scorer with 22 points. With two games remaining, the girls have a record of 21-13. 

Junior Cayden Casburn clears the ball to deny the Cowboys a chance to score. Casburn is a defender and this is his first full season on the varsity team.

UNICEF held a fundraiser bake sale on Dec. 14 in Castle Hills. Members of the club baked and volunteered from 12 - 3 p.m. and they ended up raising around $170.  

An Alligator Snapping Turtle opens its mouth as it swims to the front of the tank. These turtles are currently found only in the US and are experiencing population decline due to overharvesting; they are protected in some states such as Indiana and Kentucky under the law because of potential endangerment.
