There are various “miracle” face products on the market, but they are expensive and contain ingredients that you’ve probably never heard of. Don’t fret. Below are simple, effective face masks you can create using ingredients in your kitchen or those you can buy without putting a strain on your wallet.

If the cold weather has been leaving your face dry and flaky, this face mask will moisturize and gently exfoliate while leaving your skin brighter and smoother. Oatmeal exfoliates and removes impurities, while banana and honey softens the skin and reduces inflammation.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of grounded unflavored oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1 banana
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

A mask with lemon and egg whites will help combat oily skin by toning it and tightening pores.  Egg whites remove excess oils and unblock pores while lemon tightens the skin.

Ingredients:

  • Egg white from one egg
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon

Itchy. Red. Burning. Using products made from artificial ingredients may worsen these symptoms of sensitive skin. A natural face mask made from calming ingredients will make your skin happy. Aloe vera is commonly used to soothe sunburns and can also be used to treat sensitive skin. Cucumbers, when taken from the fridge, have a cooling effect.

Ingredients:

  • 1 aloe vera leaf
  • 1/2 cucumber, puree

For flaky, dull skin, exfoliation is needed to remove dead skin and brighten the face. This face mask will gently exfoliate your skin with brown sugar and hydrate it with olive oil.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  1. Mix ingredients together in a medium-sized bowl
  2. Wash face with a facial cleanser and use a warm, moist towel to open pores
  3. Put mixture on face and leave on for 15-20 minutes
  4. In a circular motion, thoroughly remove mask with warm water by massaging and rinsing face
  5. Splash on cold water to close pores
  6. Moisturize with facial lotion
