Meet the new senior class officers

New year. New faces. With the school year coming to an end, new senior class officers were chosen by the student body on May 26. Meet the new officers who will be leading the 2017-2018 school year:

President Nhi Pham

What made you run?

“I wanted to make my senior year as full of an experience as possible, so I decided to run for the most ambitious position. Also, the thought of going on the intercom and doing the announcements every morning seemed like a fun routine. I usually obnoxiously raise my hand to read aloud in class, so I felt reading the morning announcements aloud would be a pleasant macrocosm of that experience. Most of all, though, I’d say the driving force behind my decision to run was simply my desire to participate.”

How does it feel being a senior class representative?

“I feel flattered that my classmates consider me qualified for the position, which makes me all the more nervous at the prospect of possibly failing in the responsibilities expected of me and misrepresenting the senior class. Nonetheless, I’m excited to try to prove that I can live up to expectations.”

What do you plan to do for the school?

“I plan on setting a good example for my peers by continuing to participate in clubs, organizations, and events, and by urging others to maximize their participation as well. The primary goal of a class representative is compelling peers to be active in school and allowing as many people as possible to make the most of their high school experience.”

Vice President Chris Bedell

What made you run?

“Recently, I’ve been big on giving myself as many opportunities for success as possible and running for vice president allowed me to do that. I want to be in a position where I can speak on behalf of my class and make suggestions for how to make Hebron High School even better. Being a class officer has put me in a position where I can actually work toward making positive changes and get input from the senior class and the other officers.”

How does it feel being a senior class representative?

“I’m so incredibly excited. Winning the election was so satisfying as I got to see all of my campaigning pay off. Now that I’m officially a senior class representative, I’m excited to actually start doing things and making changes that will make Hebron even better than it is already.”

What do you plan to do for the school?

“I’ve always thought there was something special about the class of 2018. I see it in our academic ability, our athletic skill, our talent in fine arts and our overall involvement in school activities. Because of that, I want to make the 2017 – 2018 school year incredibly special for all of the seniors.”

Secretary Rayan Moosa

What made you run?

“I ran because I am involved in many different clubs and organizations and feel that I can represent the student body in a very positive manner. It has always been a goal of mine to be a part of the senior class officer team since the ninth grade, so it has always been in the back of mind to run.”

How does it feel being a senior class representative?

“It feels very good being a senior class representative. I feel like it is a very big achievement and I couldn’t be more excited to get to work. Although at times it will be difficult to be an officer, we have an amazing officer team that is [working hard] for the upcoming year so I feel prepared and ready to take on the new school year.”

What do you plan to do for the school?

“I plan on being the officer that everyone can relay their message [to.] I want to be able to take the ideas of all the senior class and implement it into our everyday school lives, so their voices can be heard through me.”

Treasurer Lindsey Yoo

What made you run?

“I always wanted to be a senior class officer, and it felt like a good way to give back to the school. Since it’s my senior year next fall, I want to leave the school knowing that I did something to help make it better.”

How does it feel being a senior class representative?

“It’s very exciting to be treasurer. I can’t wait to get closer with my three other class officers, and help bring our senior class into being the best class it can be.”

What do you plan to do for the school?

“I plan on being enthusiastic for everything I put in and hope that every senior does the same. I want us all to have the best senior year and remember this school in the most positive way possible.”
