Silver Wings will perform its spring show “Celebration in Silver” May 1-3 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
“This year, our team overall has evolved: we’ve become not only better, but better at working together,” captain Ava Sipko said. “With the new leadership came more motivation for us to make the show better.”
There will be three shows — each at 7:00 p.m. The last show, scheduled for May 3, will be senior night.
“Our rehearsal process this year [is a] lot more efficient,” junior Ryann Phillips said. “We have spent a lot more time rehearsing and cleaning our dances.”
The show will have five new dances: a rookie dance, a senior dance, returning members’ dance and two half-team dances. There are also new acting parts being added, replacing the voiceover that normally opens the dances.
“When I was in high school, I got to do a rookie dance, returning members’ dance and a senior dance,” head director Lauren Wheeler said. “That was super special because we got to bond with the people that are in the similar stage of life.”
This is Silver Wings’ first full year with new directors. They had a new Christmas show and performed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
“This year is when we started making changes about the seasons all together, so contest season, our first holiday show,” Sipko said. “All of these new opportunities with new directors that actually said yes.”
The show title, “Celebration in Silver” is a reference to this being the Silver Wing’s 25th show, making it their silver anniversary.
“It’s the 25th anniversary of Hebron and the Silver Wings,” Wheeler said. “The traditional wedding anniversary gift of 25 years is silver, so it’s a play off of the 25th anniversary and the gift of what it is to be a Silver Wing.”
