Playlist: Stomp the Halls

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Admit it, the same few Beyonce songs just aren’t doing it for you anymore. You’re just tired of walking that walk to the “***Flawless” remix, and “Partition” is too sexy for hallway music anyway. Don’t worry. Here’s a playlist that’s guaranteed to give you that power trip you crave as you burn rubber between passing periods.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_text_separator title=”“Q.U.E.E.N.“ by Janelle Monae” title_align=”separator_align_left”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][image_with_animation image_url=”7253″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]The title, big and literally spelled out for you, promises a feeling of feminine pride, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. This song is for anybody, woman or otherwise, who wants to feel above the criticism of others.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_text_separator title=”“Soda“ by Le1f” title_align=”separator_align_left”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][image_with_animation image_url=”7256″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Le1f (pronounced “leaf”) is not exactly underground and not exactly mainstream. He fits snugly within his own niche of the rap genre, and if you can appreciate his unique style, you’ll spend many passing periods clackin’ your heels to “Soda.”

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_text_separator title=”“The Wolf“ by Fever Ray” title_align=”separator_align_left”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][image_with_animation image_url=”7257″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]There’s a very special place in my heart for Fever Ray and for this song in particular. Yes, the song was written for “Red Riding Hood” starring Amanda Seyfried, but it’s great nonetheless. I personally choose to think the song is about Fever Ray herself, tearing apart the men of her choosing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_text_separator title=”“Losing You“ by Solange” title_align=”separator_align_left”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][image_with_animation image_url=”7260″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]I’ll admit “Losing You” is not an uplifting song. It has a way of making you feel powerful in a similar way that “Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child can—by making you feel like you have the upperhand in a romantic relationship. And maybe this isn’t something many other people will be able to understand, but in times of romantic insecurity and distress this is the kind of song that makes you feel like you can get through the day.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_text_separator title=”“Teeth“ by Lady Gaga” title_align=”separator_align_left”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][image_with_animation image_url=”7261″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]I feel that if I didn’t include this song in a list of songs to strut to I’d be doing a serious injustice to the eighth grade version of myself with a Lady Gaga obsession. This is a song to stomp to because of its sloppy beat and muffled background vocals which will definitely make “Teeth” your newest guilty pleasure.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_text_separator title=”“Fitzpleasure“ by Alt-J” title_align=”separator_align_left”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][image_with_animation image_url=”7263″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]If you’re on the lookout for a song with cryptic lyrics and vocals that make you question your morals, “Fitzpleasure” will deliver. In a way, the song’s title primes you for exactly what you would expect, and every bit of it is glorious.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
