  1. “Tomorrowland” – releasing May 22

This springtime movie is based off of the popular Disneyland attraction, “Tomorrowland.”  It is a secretive sci-fi film with many details yet to be revealed. The trailer is very vague, but I gathered that the characters travel to the dimension of Tomorrowland and futuristic conflict takes place. I recently went to the Tomorrowland theme park, so I am excited to see a movie based on it.

  1. “Star Wars Episode VII” – releasing Dec. 18

Thirty years after the last released Star Wars movie, the series is finally continuing with this thrilling sci-fi that will make you want to rewatch the whole series. Star Wars is a space based journey about the fight between good and evil. The casting directors are bringing back classic actors and actresses such as Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. I watched these movies as a kid and I will enjoy watching them now with a more modern take on the classic saga.

  1. “Jurassic World” – releasing June 12

Another follow up to a movie made decades ago. It is a tale of humans bringing back dinosaurs for their amusement, but things go horribly wrong. I watched this movie as a child making it nostalgic and funny for me. Judging from the casting of actors like Chris Pratt and Judy Greer its going to be at least slightly comedic.

  1. “Jupiter Ascending” – releasing Feb. 6

The trailer features Channing Tatum in heavy makeup and a rather confused looking Mila Kunis. Considering neither of these actors are known for sci-fi roles this movie interests me. It is a bright and futuristic journey for a bounty hunter (Tatum)  sent to kill a girl (Kunis) who has the same genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe, therefore posing a threat to others who are also looking to be the leader of the universe.

  1. “Inside Out” – releasing June 19

Something easy to look forward to is this lighthearted children’s movie. This is a movie that shows the personified emotions inside the mind of a girl. Emotions such as joy (Amy Poehler), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), and Anger (Lewis Black).  It will be a fun movie to see with your family.

  1. “Avengers: Age of Ultron” – releasing May 1

Everyones favorite superheroes are back with another action packed adventure. This time sarcastic and slightly arrogant Tony Stark starts up a dormant peacekeeping program and turmoil ensues. This calls for, you guessed it, the Avengers to team up again and save the day.

  1. “Paper Towns” – releasing June 5

Another John Green book turned into a fun-loving movie. “The Fault In Our Stars” sucessfully made me laugh and cry. I have high expectations for this mysterious romance. The narrator, Quentin Jacobsen (Nat Wolff), and three of his friends go to search for their lost neighbor Margo Roth Spiegelman (Cara Delevingne). The more Quentin finds out about Margo the less he thinks he knows her.

Trailer has not yet been released.

  1. “Pitch Perfect 2” – releasing May 15

After the smashing comedy “Pitch Perfect” was released in late 2012 with an ending that implied another movie soon to come I have awaited the sequel. Your favorite characters from this acapella group have become seniors in college and they are faced with the reality of life after graduation.

  1. “Insurgent” – releasing March 20

A sequel in the best selling book “Divergent”, written by Veronica Roth. The main character Tris Prior is living in a post apocalyptic society that is divided into classes. Tris chooses the Dauntless faction where she meets Tobias Eaton, her fighting instructor and love interest. The two must navigate their way through this society on the verge of war.

  1. “Mockingjay Part 2” – releasing Nov. 20

This chilling and inspirational trilogy of books has left its mark on our society. The books focus is on main character Katniss Everdeen who grows up in an impoverished district of the country Panem. After volunteering to be in the Hunger Games, to take the place of her sister,  and showing her rebellious spirit, Katniss has sparked another war against the capital. She becomes the face of the rebellion and conflict erupts. This movie is about the climax of the war against the capital and it is sure to excite.
