This year, Lewisville High School hosted the Stuco officers from the school, The Colony, Flower Mound and Hebron for a Mardis Gras themed night with decorations, catered Cajun food, get-to-know-you games and a chance to connect with student council members in the area.

“It started to form a sense of unity and a bond between the student council’s within the district and really ensure that we realize we’re not competitors,” Secretary Loren Querickiol said. “We are on a team and we’re working toward a common goal which is school spirit.”

Students were broken up into color groups with a mix of the different high schools. After dinner and the invocation, groups created a poster illustrating why they love LISD and sent a spokesperson to present them.

When activities were over, the night ended with a Flower Mound student winning the final round of the student dance competition and school sponsor Benjamin Stroud won a $15 Starbucks gift card in the sponsor round of the contest.

With all scheduled events over, student council officers took one last chance to take pictures and exchange contact information before loading back onto the bus.

“[My favorite part is] meeting new people from different schools and different student councils,” Historian Kayla Urbino said. “It was my first time being an officer this year and I remember some people from seeing them at [Stuco] summer camp but I like making new friends.”

The entire way home, Stuco officers sang to Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space”, classic Stuco songs like “baby shark” and concluded, fittingly, with a Stuco rendition of the school’s Alma Mater. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
