Patrick and his sister in Florida

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Students are reuniting with their friends, but not Sophomore Patrick Lucas. For him, it’s the first day of a new school year, and the first day at a new school. Faces he has never seen before shove past him in an attempt to connect with friends. Patrick has none to turn to.

Born in Corpus Christi, Patrick now lives in Frisco. Patrick and his family quickly packed up and moved to Washington and from there left for Alabama, New York, Louisiana, then Florida, California, Georgia, California again, and back to Texas where his parents have agreed not to move again until Patrick’s high school graduation.

“I’ve moved so many times that usually by the time I start making friends is when I end up moving again, but it was never boring having to move from place to place, although I miss some of the friends I have made.”

Patrick has had to move because of his father’s job, which is putting up cell towers wherever his business sends him. Patrick plays football, where he has been able to connect with people and make friends.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”6506″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]”My son makes me proud,” Patrick’s father, Jeff Lucas said. “I know all this moving around was hard on him but he managed to make friends, join the football team and make good grades in school.”

Returning to Texas is what he wanted from the beginning and he is happy to stay.

“I was never really old enough to remember living in Texas, but once I made my way back, it felt like home.” Patrick said

Between all of the places Patrick has lived Texas has always been his favorite. He has however, experienced many things that some people will never get the chance to do, like getting to see the Yankees play in the old stadium before it was demolished. He has surfed in Florida, visited the Space Needle and air boated through swamp country.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”6507″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]”I have so many experiences that I can tell people that my younger siblings can’t,” Patrick said.

Patrick’s three younger siblings, two sisters and a brother, haven’t been to half the places he has. The older of his younger sisters attends Arbor Creek just down the street.

Among Patrick’s friends, sophomore Jacob Kuers has known him the longest and has been his neighbor for almost six years. The two of them have bonded through shared interest in sports and Texas A&M.

“Patrick is a very funny and rarely takes things seriously,” Kuers said. “He is a great guy, though, and I’m glad he is here to stay.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
