Meet the Cast: A look into the actors of Peter Pan

Peyton Roberts – Peter Pan

Quick stats: 12th grade/8 years in theater/ Encore.

Funniest behind the scenes moment?

  • We were trying on wigs for the show, and there was a Chucky wig that I tried on. I was made fun of and teased the whole day. It was pretty ridiculous.

Coffee or tea?

  • Neither, I really only drink tea for the show so it soothes my throat, but I force myself to.

Favorite actor/actress?

  • Neil Patrick Harris and Meryl Streep. She is my theater “mom,” like my role model.

What do you think your character’s favorite food would be?

  • He is a 12-year old boy, so probably cake.

On stage or on screen?

  • On stage, mostly because I haven’t tried on-screen yet, but I think I’d enjoy the stage more.

What acting role have you performed thus far that you have enjoyed the most?

  • I’m a little biased, but Peter Pan. He’s the biggest role I’ve ever had especially in a musical. It’s just so fun playing a character that’s larger than life. Literally he’s a cartoon character and a child at that. It’s just been a lot of fun bringing him to life.

What is your ideal character type?

  • I love playing crazy characters. I’m always drawn to the villain, or the crazy old lady or the fat lady, the dudes, whatever’s abstract or different. I like to morph myself into like a little 12-year old boy.

If you could summarize the Peter Pan musical in one word, what would it be?

  • Magical.

Wendy Darling – Tori Marshall

Quick stats: 11th grade/3 years in theater/Bravo.

What is your ideal character type?

  • I’ve always wanted to be a Disney princess, but I like characters that are fun.

If you could have any power or special skill, what would it be?

  • I’d like the power to stop time, because I just don’t have any, so I can go sleep and then come back for rehearsal.

If you could go to any fictional land, where would you go?

  • Neverland sounds really fun.

What acting role that you have performed thus far that you have enjoyed the most?

  • In last year’s Senior Showcase, my part wasn’t even part of the script, but the senior director asked me and another guy to be scientists. I didn’t have any lines, but it was so much fun just pretending to be a part of the set.

Favorite show tune?

  • Anything Disney, and I love “Rent” the musical.

What do you think your character’s favorite food would be?

  • She’s probably a fan of desserts. I think she would like strawberry shortcake the best.

Funniest behind the scenes moment?

  • When we started the flying scenes, all the cast and crew members just started making continuous puns about flying. It was ridiculous.

If you could summarize the Peter Pan musical in one word, what would it be?

  • Spectacular.

Sean Ghedi – Captain Hook

Quick stats: 10th grade/5 years in theater/Encore.

What do you think your character’s favorite food would be?

  • Something that kids wouldn’t like, something gross, like spinach.

Favorite actor/actress?

  • Johnny Depp, because of how he can play so many different characters.

If you could go to any fictional land, where would you go?

  • Bikini Bottom.

What acting role that you have performed thus far that you have enjoyed the most?

  • Captain Hook, because I like having an ensemble of pirates parading around me.

Favorite show tune?

  • Any song from “Legally Blonde” or “Hairspray.”

On stage or on screen?

  • On stage, because as an actor, it’s more thrilling to have the audience there watching live.

What is your ideal character type?

  • Comic relief — I find it more fun to make the audience laugh than crying or screaming.

If you could summarize the Peter Pan musical in one word, what would it be?

  • Adventurous.

AJ Abdullah – Smee

Quick stats: 10th grade/6 years in theater/Encore.

Favorite Broadway musical?

  • Big Fish.

If you could go to any fictional land, where would you go?

  • Narnia sounds pretty cool.

If you could have any power or special skill, what would it be?

  • I’d really like to teleport.

What acting role that you have performed thus far that you have enjoyed the most?

  • Swifty from “All in the Timing,” because I was a monkey and it was a lot of fun.

Coffee or tea?

  • Tea. Chamomile with honey.

What is your ideal character type?

  • It really depends on the character. Whoever it is, I try to base my personal experiences or what I’ve done off of them so I can fit them better. I usually play the comic relief characters, but I enjoy playing the antagonist, because it’s something different and challenging.

Favorite actor/actress?

  • Robin Williams for on-screen, and Norbert Leo Butz for Broadway.

If you could summarize the Peter Pan musical in one word, what would it be?

  • Amazing.

Peyton Greenberg – Nana

11th grade/4 years in theater/Bravo.

Favorite show tune?

  • Anything from “Mamma Mia.”

Favorite Broadway musical?

  • “Mamma Mia”– it was the first musical I saw on Broadway and I love the actors and actresses. I even got to meet them afterwards.

On stage or on screen?

  • On-screen, because I appreciate the actors more and I think it’s cooler when you can see the actors’ expressions more closely.

What acting role that you have performed thus far that you have enjoyed the most?

  • Winnie the Pooh — it was a really challenging role for me, but it was still a lot of fun.

If you could play any character in the whole world, who would it be?

  • A really mean villain.

If you could go to any fictional land, where would you go?

  • Neverland, because you don’t have very many responsibilities.

What is your ideal character type?

  • I like playing the intimidating characters, because they’re so opposite of my personality, so it’s fun to go into a character that you wouldn’t normally.

If you could summarize the Peter Pan musical in one word, what would it be?

  • Magical.

Abby Lutz – Liza

11th grade/3 years in theater/Encore

Favorite show tune?

  • My current favorite is “Easy as Life” from Aida, but my all-time favorite is “Funny Honey” from Chicago.

Coffee or tea?

  • Tea, like sleepytime tea, herbal or green tea with lots of honey.

If you could play any character in the whole world, who would it be?

  • Tracy Turnblad from “Hairspray.”

What is your ideal character type?

  • I usually like to play the bad guy, or any character that’s out of the ordinary. I don’t like playing the boring, typical “femme fatale,” but rather the ones that steal the show.

Favorite broadway musical?

  • “Chicago” and “Cabaret” are my favorites, because they’re both set in the jazz era that makes it so “Broadway”.

Any fictional land?

  • It would be either Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory or the under-the-sea kingdom from “The Little Mermaid”.

Funniest behind the scenes moment?

  • I was picking up my friend, Michael for rehearsal, and I was backing out of his driveway and hit another car. I didn’t even realize I had a giant dent on my car, so we went on to Starbucks and the person in front of us paid for our drink and I just thought, “This day can’t get any better!” until I actually got to school, and saw I had a dent on my car.

If you could summarize the Peter Pan musical in one word, what would it be?

  • Brilliant.
