“Tiger Lily” leaves readers never wanting to grow up

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]After hearing the Peter Pan story since childhood, an expectation for “Tiger Lily” might be to hear a loving and adventurous tale of fighting with pirates and saving Wendy.

But this twist on the classic tale by Jodi Lynn Anderson of Neverland and its prime native, Peter Pan, shifts its focus to a lesser known character: Tiger Lily, the Indian with a crow feather in her hair. Typically, Peter Pan rescues her, but this time, the roles are reversed.

More and more of Tiger Lily’s strength and bravery is revealed at each turn of the page. She doesn’t need to be saved by anyone, and everyone loves her even more for it.

Beautifully detailed descriptions give inside looks at the characters’ complicated thoughts, emotions and actions. Anderson uses a carefully crafted world with lovable heroes alongside agonizing villains.

This is especially true for the heroine Tiger Lily. There is no simple first name basis with Tiger Lily: As she struggles with troubling situations and feels love and heartbreak for Pan, so do we. Sympathy for all the characters is weaved into the plot of “Tiger Lily,” making it stand out from other novellas of minor characters.

This heartbreaking sympathy extends all the way to the last page. Tears are destined to fall on the page as the author reveals the hurried conclusion of the novel. Anderson conjures the desire to have Tiger Lily and Pan live happily ever after, only to throw a curveball no one sees coming.

“Tiger Lily” leaves passion in hearts and a desire to fly away to Neverland. Carve out a few hours to curl up with this book and a comfy blanket: once picked up, this stand-alone novel can’t be set down.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][image_with_animation image_url=”3521″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][tabbed_section][tab title=”Good”][vc_column_text]Creative version of “Peter Pan”
