Boys basketball will begin its season on Nov. 13 with a game against Byron Nelson.

Despite being at Hebron for 12 years, this is basketball coach Eric Reil’s first year as head coach.

“We’ve changed a few things my first year [as head coach],” basketball coach Eric Riel said. “But, overall, we’re excited to get this season going.”

Basketball held tryouts for this season in late October. Students already on a team keep their spots, and other students can try out to fill the others spots.

“[Tryouts are] tough and competitive,” Riel said. “It’s not show up and you get to play because everybody would love to be a basketball player.”

The season will last about 28 to 30 games depending on how far basketball gets in tournaments. After the last district game in February, playoffs will start. For the last two years, basketball has been district champions.

“Our goal is to make playoffs and we want to finish definitely in the top four in district, and if we end up winning district that’d be great,” Riel said.
