During choir, junior Sanjitha Venkata practices her music. Belle Chanson, an all-girls choir, practices every day during third period.

A cappella choir will sing for Stonebriar Homeowners Association (HOA) ladies at Verona Village on Nov. 9. The Stonebriar HOA organizes activities and events for the residents of Stonebriar. According to choir director Alexander Carr, this performance allows the choir to perform for the community and also provides a way to raise funds for the choir program.

“[The donation to the choir program from the Stonebriar HOA] is one of the benefits of the concert as they do donate a good amount of money to the choir,” Carr said. “[The concert is] also a community outreach activity and we’re excited for that aspect as well.”

Previously, the performance for the Stonebriar HOA took place later in the year, but the choir moved the concert up this year. With the concert being fall themed, it will feature songs such as “Gravedigger.” For choir members like junior Ella Mesumbe, the process of setting up for this performance was difficult but gratifying.

“To prepare for this performance, the A cappella choir has been intensely rehearsing challenging, yet meaningful pieces during class,” Mesumbe said. “I feel we are very prepared for this performance since we have been rehearsing this music since August.”

Junior Kyler Beck, who will be singing in the concert, is excited to perform for the Stonebriar HOA ladies and hopes that he can emotionally appeal to the audience. Beck hopes to have fun during the choir concert.

“I’m excited because I get to take off school with my choir friends and bond with them and go to an event that benefits the community,” Beck said. “I think the pieces we sing will really appeal to our audience. I hope that through our singing, we can make them appreciative of what they have and the people around them.”
