Bug brownies

Bug+brownies

In honor of my favorite holiday, Halloween, I made spooky food. Combining my love for the holiday and brownies, I decided to make peanut butter cookie dough brownies with candy spiders on top. I only needed a few ingredients:

  • Brownie mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • Black decorating icing
  • Miniature peanut butter cups

First off, I prepared the brownie mix according to the instructions on the box. As the brownies cooled off, I started making the peanut butter cookie dough. I beat the butter and brown sugar together in a bowl, and then added the peanut butter. After the mixture was smooth, I mixed in the flour, and made sure there weren’t any lumps. At this point, the brownies were cool, so I spread the peanut butter mixture all over them. Before decorating the brownies with the peanut butter cups, I refrigerated them for 30 minutes to let the peanut butter set. Lastly, I cut the brownies into squares and placed one peanut butter cup upside down on each of them. As the final touch, I used the black icing to draw eyes and legs on the peanut butter cup, resembling a spider.

Overall, the brownies looked and tasted amazing. I thought I would mess up the peanut butter cookie dough, but it was surprisingly easy to make. This is a really good recipe, even for people who don’t usually like peanut butter, because the taste becomes neutralized thanks to the flour it’s mixed with. If you need a super quick and easy dessert to take to a Halloween party or just to binge on while watching scary movies, this is the perfect recipe for you.
