Hebron Hawks boys soccer team plays a practice scrimmage amongst each other. The boys soccer team will compete against Plano West at Clark Stadium on March 8 at 7:30 p.m.

The boys soccer team will compete against Plano West at Clark Stadium on March 8 at 7:30 p.m.

“We played against Plano West earlier this season,” midfielder Mason Hatley said. “The first half was definitely a struggle, but they had a penalty kick we saved. In the second half, we made a comeback.”

The team played Plano West earlier in the season on Feb. 9 and won 2-0. The team hopes to win their second game against Plano West.

“The team’s been preparing well,” goalkeeper Evan Mayhaw said. “I feel like we’re all energetic. We’re all ready to go out there and play.”

Hebron is fighting to stay in the top four in the district, which means they could advance to the state playoffs. Their current placement is second in district.

“Plano West is fighting for the last playoff spot,” head coach Matthew Zimmerman said. “They’re going to come in not only looking for revenge from the first game, but also because their season’s going to be close to being on the line.”

Hebron, aims to maintain, if not rise, to the top in the last games of this season.

“We’ve had few outlier superstars on this team this year,” Zimmerman said. “Everyone has a part in the team. They show up and they play together. Every night somebody new has to step up and play well. They feel good about themselves and are feeling pretty confident.”
