Dear underclassmen,
As the year comes to an end, The Hawk Eye seniors have some advice to share on what they learned from their four years.
Sara Camino: A negative mindset won’t give you a positive life. High school can be tough, but pushing to find the best in everything can help to keep you motivated. Doing everything with joy is important to keep your mind healthy as you finish high school.
Kaleb Harris: Build good relationships with your peers and teachers. Don’t be afraid to talk to people. You never know what you’re missing out on if you never take the opportunity to branch out.
Justin Lee: You should always research how difficult your next courses and teachers will be and map out your daily routine. Drop teachers that credible people say are terrible, or mentally prepare yourself for the extra work you’re going to do for that class. If you’re doing dual credit, check their RateMyProfessor and drop accordingly.
Sarah Mitchell: If you see an opportunity to grow in a way you’ve been wanting, take it. Taking the initiative and stepping toward your goal will beat procrastination. Always take these opportunities because you might never see them again.
Siya Patel: Always take action immediately! It’s easy to come up with an idea or plan and then procrastinate actually doing it. You will save yourself so much stress by starting as soon as you think of the idea, and you’ll be much happier with the results.
Reece Redman: Do what you want to do, not what others want you to. Do what makes you happy and success will follow.
Joshua Thomas: Be independent and learn to prioritize your time wisely. There will be days when you’ll have excessive free time, so start doing additional extracurriculars or jobs that will strengthen your academic profile.
Daniela Valdez Rios: Push yourself out of your comfort zone. Talk to people you find interesting and do what you love without caring about others’ judgment. If you think it’s embarrassing, know that no one will remember it by tomorrow.
No matter what phase of high school you’re in, remember to cherish these years and flip the pages of your life with confidence.
Sincerely,
The Hawk Eye seniors
